Governance & Trust

Governance & Trust Framework

Human-Certified Formation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

This platform is governed - not merely operated. As artificial intelligence reshapes how knowledge is produced, explained, and distributed, 1on1.today commits to protecting what must remain human, accountable, and truthful. The following documents define the boundaries, standards, and safeguards that govern all activity within this ecosystem.

These are not values statements. They are operational commitments.

1. Covenant of Human-Certified Formation

The Covenant defines the moral and institutional foundation of this platform. It affirms that:

  • Truth is not delegated to systems
  • Authority is not simulated
  • Formation precedes certification
  • God is not optimized, impersonated, or replaced

The Covenant establishes non-delegable human responsibilities and clear boundaries for artificial intelligence, especially in education, formation, and faith-adjacent work.

All tutors, partners, and administrators operating within this ecosystem agree to uphold this Covenant as a condition of participation.

2. Tutor Standards & Verification

Trust requires standards. All tutors on 1on1.today are expected to meet clear requirements for:

  • Identity verification
  • Competence evidence
  • Teaching clarity
  • Ethical conduct
  • Boundary awareness

Tutor authority is earned through verification and accountability, not assumed through output, popularity, or automation.

Special standards apply to formation and faith-adjacent categories, mentoring and guidance roles, and any offering involving moral, spiritual, or personal development.

Misrepresentation, impersonation, or misuse of authority results in removal.

3. AI Use & Disclosure Policy

Artificial intelligence may assist learning - but it must never replace responsibility. This policy defines:

  • Where AI use is permitted
  • Where AI use must be disclosed
  • Where AI use is explicitly prohibited

AI is allowed only as an assistant, not as:

  • A teacher with authority
  • A spiritual voice
  • A therapist or counselor
  • A decision-maker

All tutors must disclose material AI use in preparation, feedback, or instruction. No AI system may claim divine revelation, spiritual authority, or guaranteed outcomes.

4. Learning Integrity Policy

Learning without integrity produces imitation - not formation. This policy protects:

  • Honest skill development
  • Authentic assessment
  • Proper attribution
  • Ethical use of tools

Tutors may teach how to use AI responsibly, but may not:

  • Enable academic dishonesty
  • Submit AI-generated work as human mastery
  • Certify outcomes without human review

Any credential, verification, or certification offered through this platform must involve human evaluation with documented criteria.

5. Safety & Escalation Protocol

Care requires limits. This protocol exists to protect users when situations exceed the scope of education or formation, including:

  • Mental health crises
  • Self-harm indicators
  • Abuse disclosures
  • Threats of harm

Tutors are required to pause sessions when safety is at risk, encourage appropriate external support, and escalate concerns through platform channels.

This platform does not replace emergency services, clinical care, or pastoral oversight. It supports responsible referral, not substitution.
